BACA focuses on spreading industry knowledge

Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) is stepping up its education programme, with seminars at two aviation days, a visit to facilities at London City Airport and another of its highly successful training days planned.

“BACA was established to raise standards and ensure excellence in the air charter industry,” explains Tony Coe, BACA Chairman.  “We run a continual programme of training days, site visits and seminars in order to help educate our own members –

and to listen to their concerns.”

Mr Coe will be chairing a seminar looking at charter brokerage and operator issues at the Business Aircraft Europe (BAE) Expo and Conference which is held at London Biggin Hill Airport 11 -12 September 2013.

Last year this proved a lively session with the suggestion that the industry might be better off, both financially and in terms of the quality of services offered if some (even many) of the smaller operators merged or were acquired by larger companies.

BACA, in conjunction with BBGA, will be running sessions at the British and General Aviation Day) at Cambridge Airport on Tuesday, 17 September 2013.

Topics will include the changing habits of business aviation customers, training and apprenticeships, taxation by another name, and flight data monitoring.

One of the speakers will be a senior member of the CAA who will bring everyone up to date on the latest aviation matters that concern those who specialise in business aviation.

“We know that the rules and regulations covering the international air charter business can be very complicated – and they change regularly, so we are keen to keep our members up to date,” says Mr Coe. “It’s about learning from each other as well.”

The visit to London City Airport on 6September to see the facilities for charter and business aircraft is one of a series of visits to airports which BACA organises for its members. Recent visits include Southend and Oxford Airports.

The next training day, to be held at the Baltic Exchange in the City of London on

26 November, will include topics such as aviation law, insurance and a possible session on overseas landing permits. This training day is open to BACA members only.
