“As soon as I saw the moonstones,”
She continues: “That first trip to Sri Lanka was for a friend’s wedding, and this focused my idea even further - moonstones in a silver setting would make the perfect accompaniment to a white wedding outfit! It has the classic appeal of bridal jewellery, but with a modern take due to the simplicity and translucent quality of the white stone”.
However, Neelisha’s keen business chops told her that moving to Sri Lanka would be key to White Wedding Jewellery’s success. “I knew we had to be based there, to ensure that the only the best gems were used - and that they were ethically sourced. I also wanted the opportunity to collaborate directly with local craftsmen in realising my designs and ensuring that the silver is handcrafted to the highest quality.” Vadher also acknowledges that basing the business in Sri Lanka would reduce production costs – savings which she is now passing on to the customers.
And so she moved, lock, stock, barrel – and husband – to the Indian Ocean island.
