GRAPEVINE, Texas - Aug. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- When Allworx entered the market in mid 2000 (We racall), it was a time that was the beginning of the end of the Digital Age of Phone system and shifting into IP.  It seemed like everyone was jumping into the market and trying to get a piece of the action.  There were (and still are) employees of such companies that have/had no experience with this business hardware side but rather the provider side.  Think of a Car as the "Hardware" side and the Provider side as the "Gas".  Both businesses are quite different.

So we met the corporate leaders at trade shows and even had them come visit us at our offices to discuss opportunities.  Here's the low down from our angle.

The Nortel's of the world have died.  Specifically, their type of business model was old and consumers were fed up with paying higher than required prices for proprietary hardware.  Our customers wanted choices in the type of handset(s) they purchase and wanted competitive pricing when trying to purchase perpherial cards such as T1 and analog cards. Simply put, smart people do not want to be locked in a corner and told what to buy.  This is a democracy!

All their offerings require their own hardware.  Think of it this way.  Today you purchase a car from Ford and you can replace the tires with any manufacture you like (Michelin, Dunlop, Good Year...) and you can work on your car or take it to your local car guy. Cool right?  This business model doesn't work with AllWorx.

You can not purchase the phone system and install it yourself (Unless you become certified at a $).  You must purchase from an authorized dealer and have installed by same.  You must use the AllWorx Phones and no other (Cisco, Polycom, Yealink, Aastra...) remember that car analogy?

Furthermore, Voice Mail has limited ports. Really? Why?  You need to add phones?  Depending on the model system you purchased, you just might need to scap that and fork lift to the next model.  But, you can keep your phones.  In any event, there is a price to pay and very limited options.

In conclusion, I see Allworx going the way of the Blackberry Cell Phone. Their business model just doesn't cut it for smart business owners and employees.  The iProphet is still the leader in our minds.  The features are off the chart and practically all features are included such as ACD, Call Recording, Unlimited Voice Mail Ports, Specific Message on Hold per Call Group (Sales, Service, Shipping...).  And the iProphet is the lowest price system we have seen.
