Dana Point, CA (August 2013) - Rasta Taco plans to open a new brick and mortar restaurant and is excited to announce that Wing Lam of Wahoo’s Fish Taco will be adviser to the new expansion from taco catering to restaurant.

"Right now, we are looking in South Orange County, ideally along the coast. The coastal area is in parallel to the taco/reggae theme we have established over the past seven years,” says Mario Melendez, founder of Rasta Taco. "Wing is the perfect fit, and although Wahoo’s and Rasta Taco may seem similar, they are very different in all aspects.”

Wing Lam, of Wahoo's Fish Taco, is co-founder of the surf-inspired fast casual taco chain that just celebrated its 25th year in business, and now boasts 67 restaurants across the country. Celebrated for its fresh Asian and Brazilian-influenced food, pro-athlete support and charity involvement, Wahoo’s is also recognized across multiple states for its sticker-covered walls and laid-back Southern California attitude.

Like Lam, Rasta Taco’s founder Melendez, also grew up in Orange County and is influenced by the surf culture. His idea for an on-site taco catering company was born on a trip to Jamaica in 2006 when Melendez noticed roadside grilled chicken stands without tortillas. The name and concept was born there, and upon return, business commenced.

“We are thrilled to have surf taco chain icon, Wing Lam come aboard as our business adviser in the new Rasta Taco expansion. He’s an inspiration to us, and is the best in the business,” says Melendez. “We have maintained a steady client list from private, corporate and non-profits for many years.
