MURRAY, Utah - Aug. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- When looking at the results of their latest analysis of Facebook posts on their customers business page, Social Traffic Lab was surprised at the results.

Lately, the growing trend in social media has been image memes (images with funny text overlays) and videos.  The common thought is these type of posts provide a richer experience for the user becuase of their compelling visual appeal.

Kevin Davis from Social Traffic Lab found the opposite when when reviewing the results from the ecommerce store Discount Cardstock.

Simple Facebook status updates not only achieved greater reach (number of people who saw the post), but also experienced greater interaction through likes, shares and comments.

Not all status updates were created equal though.  Two specific types of posts stood out from all the rest.

You can check out the results on their blog post here:

The first were post that ask the readers a question.  Makes sense, since questions spark a response.

The second type that worked the best was fill-in-the-blank posts.

The fill-in-the-blank posts trigger the reader to automatically think and their mind starts filling in the blanks.

Now before you start posting questions and fill-in-the-blank posts on your Facebook business pages, Social Traffic Lab reminded us of one caveat.

Every audience is different, there is no silver bullet answer when it comes to marketing.

To get the best results, test several different types of Facebook posts on your own pages and then track their results using the built in Facebook Insights.

Examples of both type of posts are on their blog post here:
