ZyLAB publishes webinar on HIPAA Requirements and data reporting rules

The webinar was organized by the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS) and moderated by Mary Mack Enterprise Technology Counsel for ZyLAB.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires healthcare organizations to report on multiple areas of care and cost data, and much of that data will be patient-identifiable. The HIPAA Omnibus Final Rule that took effect in March, 2013 mandates strict protections for the security and privacy of that information.

By expanding the definition of the “HIPAA Business Associate”, the Omnibus Rule in addition has expended the jurisdiction of HIPAA to thousands of additional companies. These organizations will require pragmatic, cost-efficient ways to meet these requirements while maintaining their core business mandates.

In this practical webinar oriented to the practicalities of compliance, Ken Rashbaum, discuses practical aspects of creating, storing and disclosing electronic health information. Prof. Johannes Scholtes, Chief Strategy Officer of ZyLAB, shows how technology can help mitigate legal risks and reduce costs of health information governance and readiness for federal and state investigations, internal investigations and audits or litigation.
