Saving money is one of the prime motivations for drivers to choose an electrified vehicle over a conventional gasoline-fuelled powertrain. While other manufacturers are pricing their EV options so high that it doesn't make sense for drivers to make the jump just yet, the Nissan LEAF offers a competitively priced option. Anxiety over limited driving ranges can also be a deterrent, so the LEAF has extended its autonomy to 75 miles on a full charge, more than enough for most commuters.
"The Nissan LEAF is outselling the Chevy Volt again and leading the charge in the EV segment," said Larry Tentarelli, general manager of AutoFair Nissan of Stratham, a Nissan dealer in New Hampshire. "With current gas prices staying consistently high, knowing that you can get 129 MPGe in the city and 102 MPGe on the highway from the affordable LEAF is a very attractive proposition for any driver."
Deceptively spacious for a compact four-door hatchback, the Nissan LEAF seats five comfortably. Its low entry price belies a host of premium features for drivers and passengers that include standard heated seats and a heated leather steering wheel. A navigation system is available, and the Around View Monitor system uses four cameras to allow drivers to see all four sides around the vehicle during a parking maneuver.
