Tea Growing Counties of Taiwan Selling Tea Available In The West - RateTea Offers County-Level Info

PHILADELPHIA - Sept. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Taiwan is a major producer of high-quality teas on the global market.  Taiwan produces green, black, and white teas, but the clear focus and strength of Taiwan's production lies in oolong, especially high-mountain oolong teas like Dong Ding and Alishan, and the popular Oriental Beauty style of oolong, often sold just as "Formosa oolong".

Tea-Producing Counties of Taiwan

The county is the main level of division in Taiwan, a small country which occupies a similar amount of space as a typical Chinese province.  Following county-city mergers, a few of these counties, including New Taipei City (formerly Taipei County), and Taichung City, have a different governance structure.  Most are still normal counties.

RateTea has created maps illustrating the locations of each county in Taiwan, and when possible, has obtained information from tea retailers on where their teas are produced.  The site currently lists six counties: Chiayi, Hsinchu, Nantou, Taichung, Tapei (County/New Taipei City), and Yilan.  Although all counties in Taiwan produce tea, these represent the counties whose single-origin teas are most widely available on the Western market.
