Celebrating 10 Years of Fall Prevention Excellence

CHICO, Calif. - Sept. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- CHICO, CA, SEPTEMBER 5, 2013—Home & Health Care Management is celebrating 10 years of fall prevention excellence by releasing a month long Fall Prevention Campaign in conjunction with the 6^th annual National Fall Prevention Awareness Day—September 22, 2013.

Our agency has been involved in several projects and programs over the last 10 years in an effort to reduce falls and keep our patients in their own homes safely. We have accomplished this through community education presentations, funded programs by the Area Agencies on Aging, as well as collaborative efforts with Caring Choices to provide in home fall assessments and coalition building.

Through a grant in 2006 with Shasta County Public Health, Home & Health Care Management was able to provide free in-home fall prevention assessments and products to seniors residing in Shasta County. Through this grant, a Registered Nurse visited a senior in their home to provide: home safety checks, comprehensive evaluation of health status, medications review, fall prevention educational materials, fall recovery techniques and referrals to other services. When appropriate, fall prevention equipment such as night lights, grab bars, bed bars, and/or shower chairs were provided at no cost.

Our Fall Prevention Campaign will spotlight Physical Therapy and other fall prevention techniques as well as the latest technology in personal help buttons for safe recovery after falls.
