Clearing - 2 year study of 5,700 students show 47% "don't know what to do if they miss their grades"

BRISTOL, U.K. - Aug. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- UK leading commercial revision website S-cool.co.uk ran a 2 year study asking over 5,700 students “Do you know what you will do if your A-level results are better or worse than expected”. The study concluded that a shocking 46% of students “do not have a clue” what to do if they don’t get the grades they expect.

This brings into serious question the information and guidance available to students, especially in relation to the clearing process. Education Director of S-cool Nick Glossop said “despite the vast amount of information available to students, it is clear that many have no idea on what to do if they don’t get the results they had expected. We at S-cool are fully committed in supporting students by providing focused information and resources and sign posting other resources”.

A Head teacher from a 6th form college also added, “The results of this poll are very worrying and show that despite lots of work from organizations supporting students, there is still a wide lack of knowledge of what to do, should you not get the grades expected”.

The poll also indicated that a further 29% of students are unsure of what action to take if they don't get the grades they need. Only 25% of students stated they know what options are available to them if results aren’t as expected. These statistics make it evident that more resources and guidance need to be made available to A-level students to ensure that if the unexpected arises, contingency plans are in place. Here at s-cool we are committed to providing helpful information and resources.
