Follow on Google News | How an Award-Winning Short Film Foretold Last Week's Event in Atlanta schoolBy: mindful media group How an Award-Winning Short Film, A Perfect Day, Foretold The Scenario August 27, 2013 - Los Angeles, CA – One week after the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy incident in Decatur, GA, the incredible connection between A Perfect Day and Antoinette Tuff’s heroics still resonates. Filmmaker Adam Rubin wrote and created A Perfect Day, starring actors Kelly Perine (UPN’s “One on One,” “The Drew Carey Show,” and the upcoming “The Thundermans” Andy Schloat, CEO of Human Relations Media, explains that “What’s fascinating is that the scenario in the film is eerily similar to what played out last week in the Atlanta school. A young man armed with an AK-47 and 500 hundred rounds of ammunition went into the school and came out without harming a soul. That is why we had such a strong desire to pick up this film. It sends the right message.” In A Perfect Day, when the mailman is able to have a conversation with the angst-ridden boy and share his own woes, he is able to stop a tragedy. Similarly, almost two years after the APD screenplay was written, Antoinette Tuff, the Decatur school administrator, talked to the shooter about her own struggles in order to calm him down. She described how her separation from her husband after 33 years of marriage left her feeling lonely and in pain, and encouraged the shooter not to succumb to despair. He laid down his gun and came out. Human Relations Media, a leader in educational and instructional media, will add this special film to its exclusive catalog of media used in educational facilities, prisons, and community centers throughout the country. They will also create a program specifically designed to accompany the film. “A Perfect Day has no political or moral agenda. It is simply about perspective,” A Perfect Day has won many awards including: Best Short Film, Big Island Film Festival (Hawaii); Best Short Film, San Francisco Black Film Festival; Founder’s Excellence Award, Life Fest Film Festival (Los Angeles); Best Crime Short, Manhattan Film Festival; and Best Screenplay-Featurette (15-30 minutes), Idyllwild Film Festival. The multi-winning film can be seen on Shorts HD Channel this fall and will continue to show at festivals. Upcoming festivals include: LA Shortsfest, Harlem International, White Sands Film Festival, Catalina Film Festival, Louisville Film Festival, San Jose Short Film Festival, American Cinerock, Arpa and Big Bear Lake International Film Festival. A Perfect Day (PG-13 rating) will be publicly available for online viewing for a limited time. http://www.youtube.com/ http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ Contact: Deborah Mellman / deb4pr@aol.com / 818-990-8066 End
