Chowderfest XXV brings team spirit to LBI for a fall celebration of Champions Oct 5 & 6

SHIP BOTTOM, N.J. - Aug. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- For twenty five years, the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce Chowderfest Committee, which consists of dozens of local business people, have been bringing families, connoisseurs and the curious to the Taylor Avenue Ball Field in Beach Haven to experience a shore festival at its best.  To kick off the weekend, the Chowderfest will be honoring a true champion. This year the Taylor Avenue Ball Field will be renamed after long time Chowderfest Chairman and Past Chamber President Frank Panzone, who passed away last year after a long battle with cancer.  On Saturday October 5, a free event delivers the goods with Merchant Mart. Almost 100 specialty vendors selling their wares at season blow out prices, deep discounts and one of a kind items will be ready at 10am through 4pm. Live entertainment, costumed characters, clowns and face painting, as well as music from Hawkins Road Band. Chowderwear merchandise, and tickets for October 6 cook off will be available for sale.  Beer, local gourmet food tent and shopping galore all day, promised something for everyone.

On Sunday October 6 will make sure fans know that the next Superbowl is happening in the Garden State! We are picking up the spirit and SOUPER sizing this years event for our silver anniversary. Other great sideline events are the Chowder Cup Caddy Contest,  on October 6 its game on with two contests, Chowderfest patrons can stop the by  the South Gate press tent to enter their clever caddy for judging. The judges will choose the winning caddy based on the combination of function, creativity and use of championship. Also as a throw back to Chowderfest past, a special drawing for anyone who still has the Panzone Record Chowder Caddy, given out by the Panzone Chowder booth in 2010.Anyone with the Record Caddy may enter by stopping by the press tent on October 6 and receive a ticket to the drawing for a Panzone Pizza & Pasta Gift certificate. After Chowderfest field closes for the night, patrons won;t have to travel far to enjoy two nights of entertainment as Beach Haven continues the Chowderfest vibe with two great concerts. Surflight Theatre and Catch a Rising Star have been bringing down the house on the Saturday night after Merchant Mart for the past few years with national acts and top notch performances.
