SEATTLE - Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- IndieFlix, the world’s favorite independent movie distribution platform, announced today an exclusive partnership with Living On One Dollar to release an infographic series focused on raising awareness of extreme poverty and microfinance.  The effort leverages award winning documentary topics to fuel microfinance awareness and conversations.

The award winning film, founded and directed by Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple was created to help drive awareness and engagement in sustainable poverty alleviation efforts, including microfinance, that empower students, women, and people living below the poverty line. By providing much needed opportunities like access to savings accounts and small loans, the poor can bring themselves out of poverty.

“Education and awareness were two of the main drivers for creating the film Living On One Dollar. We wanted to share this powerful and urgent story in a compelling manner that enabled people to feel like they can be a part of the solution. We wanted it to be as real to them as it is to our friends in Guatemala affected by extreme poverty,” said Zach Ingrasci, Executive Director and Co-founder of Living on One Dollar.  “As we release the movie, we want to continue to spark conversation. This series of infographics is just one effort to engage others and inspire us all to create a better world.”

The first in the series of infographics, can be viewed at http://bit.ly/17ZngjU and sets the stage for an on-going conversation about extreme poverty, how well it is understood and how people react to it. Highlights show that crowdsourcing has become a popular option for supporting change. And, of all of the survey respondents, only 1/4th believe that it would be difficult to solve this worldwide challenge.

Each new infographic will focus on a different aspect of extreme poverty as well as showcase a success story, inspired by the Living On One Dollar documentary.  The second infograpihic in the series is set to be released in early fall. For those who want to take action towards eliminating extreme poverty, the Living on One Dollar team and IndieFlix have created options for action on the Living on One Dollar website: http://www.livingonone.org/student-micro-finance/engage.html

“IndieFlix is a platform built by filmmakers for filmmakers” said Scilla Andreen, CEO and Co-founder of IndieFlix, “Our mission is to empower the filmmaker and enable them to share their story on a global basis. The response to the exclusive release of Living On One Dollar inside schools, churches and communities has been incredible. Taking the conversation to the next level through this infographic series was a natural next step.”

Coli, financial stress, and the realization that there are no easy answers. Yet, the generosity and strength of their neighbors, Rosa, Anthony and Chino gives them resilient hope. They return home transformed and embark on a mission to share their newfound understanding with other students, inspiring and challenging their generation to make a difference.
