ORLANDO, Fla. - Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Tom Drake, stand-up comedian, veteran cruise ship headliner and writer/producer of the new cruise ship comedy Best at Sea  says he is bothered by the negative publicity surrounding cruising lately and he has an idea to fight it.

Drake says, “I have performed at sea for 20 years on over 500 cruises and I have never experienced a single problem.  Cruising is a safe, fun way to travel onboard beautiful ships to incredible destinations while enjoying world class entertainment and food.  I think the coverage in recent months has been unfair and it is time once again for a weekly television program that will show people what cruising is really like”. This veteran comic thinks it is time for an updated Love Boat.

Drake explains, “The TV show Love Boat ran for 244 episodes from 1977 to 1987 and helped create the cruise industry. At that time, Love Boat was filmed mostly on a back lot and occasionally onboard two cruise ships, one of which is now in the scrapyard. My idea for Best at Sea is to film the show entirely onboard one of our new stunning ships at sea which means the show would filmed on a 500 million dollar set.

Best at Sea features  Tom Drake, David Sayh, Elliot Finkel, Ian Finkel and Michael Minor who play themselves in this comedy about five entertainers who are hired to stage the talent competition portion of a reality show being filmed onboard a cruise ship.  Each episode will feature two of the award winning acts performing at sea and a guest star who will play the role of the celebrity judge.

Drake is excited about his cast who are all headline performers on ships. ““Elliot and Ian Finkel are musical performers and also the sons of Emmy winning actor Fyvush Finkel, David Sayh is a stand-up comedian with 83 television appearances who was discovered by Johnny Carson and Michael Minor is a classically trained singer now transformed into a singing/impressionist ventriloquist who is a star in waiting. These guys are incredibly talented and funny 24 hours a day”.

He is also excited about the performers and guest stars that have agreed to come onboard if he can get this project sponsored and sold. Award winning Australian entertainer Greg Bonham, original Star Search winner Kenny James, world class Illusionist Devlin, comedy ventriloquist Patrick and Matilda, Branson favorite Brandi Chapman, legendary NCL vocalist Jane L. Powell and comedy magician John Ferrentino are some of the acts that have been slated to perform.

Celebrity judges who will appear include Emmy Award winning actor Fyvush Finkel, Hall of Fame Sports Broadcaster Verne Lundquist and former teen idol and now Cruise Director Willie Aames.

He has also added Creative Television Communications, an Emmy award winning film crew. “I am building this project one piece at a time and the addition of a video production company with extensive experience filming on cruise ships and for broadcast television was vital. Creative Television Communications will be the perfect fit.”

At this time, Drake says he is reaching out to each of the major cruise lines in search of a cruise ship on which to film this series and to networks and producers.

He explains “this has not been an easy sell because no one really knows what viewers today will watch. Could anyone have predicted the success of Duck Dynasty, a show about millionaire duck call makers or Breaking Bad, a show about a high school teacher who sells drugs?

I have a very talented cast, a line-up of acts whose performances will really surprise viewers, celebrity judges and a film crew whose on location work is spectacular. Once a cruise line comes onboard, I will have a 500 million dollar set.  The setting will be magnificent, the comedy will be hilarious and family friendly and the comedy/variety and musical performances will be eye opening.

I think we will find a large audience for this show very quickly”.
