Atlanta's Alliance Theatre To Receive 2013 WIFTA Outstanding Contribution Award

ATLANTA - Aug. 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Women in Film & Television Atlanta (WIFTA) announces the Alliance Theatre as the recipient of the 2013 WIFTA Outstanding Contribution - Organization Award.

 

The Alliance Theatre at Woodruff Arts Center is a theatrical powerhouse, presenting nearly a dozen top-notch productions each year. Founded in 1968, The Alliance Theatre is known not only for its award-winning shows--including a Tony Award--but also for exceptional training programs. It is considered to be one of the top educational resources for actors--from toddlers just getting the hang of walking to seasoned thespians--across the Southeast. However, the training offerings don’t stop there.

 

The Alliance Theatre also provides opportunities for playwrights through the Alliance / Kendeda  National Graduate Playwrighting competition and The Collision Project. Under the leadership of Susan V. Booth, Jennings Hertz Artistic Director, the Alliance Theatre received the Regional Theatre Tony Award in recognition of sustained excellence in programming, education and community engagement. The Alliance as well as WIFTA have a shared commitment to the enrichment of the Atlanta community. The combination of the educational and entertainment opportunities that The Alliance Theatre provides for theatre fans, writers and actors makes it one of the strongest pillars of the Georgia entertainment industry, which is why WIFTA has named The Alliance Theatre its 2013 Outstanding Contribution - Organization Award honoree.

 

In addition to honoring notable entertainment industry professionals and organizations, this year's Gala will also include a screening of one of the projects created through this year's WIFTA PSA and Mentorship Program and time for networking and dancing. Also, since the Gala is WIFTA’s chief fundraising event--monies raised will enable the organization to continue and enhance its existing programming--the evening will also include a silent auction.

 

 

The Women In Film & Television Atlanta (WIFTA) 39th Annual Gala Awards Ceremony & Dinner is open to the public. It will be held on October 20, 2013 at the Georgia World Congress Center, which is located at 285 Andrew Young International Blvd. NW Atlanta, GA, in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom (bldg B) starting at 7:30pm.
