The 2013 NFL season doesn’t kick off until Thursday, September 5th, but former sports book director and television and radio analyst, Carlo “The Iron Horse” Campanella, has named the Seattle Seahawks the next Super Bowl champions! Campanella was quoted on a local radio program that “the Seahawks beat the Patriots, Niners and Packers last season and didn’t lose a game by more than a touchdown. Any improvement at all puts them in the Super Bowl behind second year QB Russell Wilson.”
Seattle ended the regular season at 11-5, before beating Washington and then losing to Atlanta in the playoffs. All five of their losses came by less than 7 points, losing their five games by 2, 2, 4, 6, and 7 points. “While Wilson had a great rookie year, he kept them close in every game,” Campanella added. “But, fourth year Head Coach Pete Carroll added key players during the off-season, like receiver Percy Harvin and defensive back Antoine Winfield. Wilson doesn’t need to improve for the Seahwaks to win the Super Bowl, everything’s already in place around him to win it all.” One advantage Seattle does own over the rest of the league is their “twelfth man.” Seattle’s fans are the loudest in the NFL and the Seahawks were an undefeated 8-0 at home during 2012.
When asked who else could win the upcoming Super Bowl, Carlo Campanella responded with, “I think the Patriots, Broncos and Texans are by far the class of the AFC, while the Seahawks, Packers, Niners and Saints will compete for the NFC crown. “ If you’re looking for a long shot, Campanella felt the Saints could fill that spot. “The Saints had a ton of trouble before the start of last season and they lost their head coach, Sean Peyton. With Peyton reunited with QB Drew Breese they could surprise everyone. They were 37-11 combined since 2009, these guys won a lot of games together.” According to this professional bettor, the Saints might just return to their Super Bowl form of 2009. As far as Campanella sees it, there are only seven teams competing for this year’s championship.
The 2013 season starts with a Thursday night game on September 5th, with the defending Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens, heading to Denver to face Peyton Manning and his Broncos. Can the Ravens repeat? Campanella only said “Nevermore.”
