One of the things that is dispelled in this controversial new NetFlix series is that you have to be beautiful to be on TV!

I have spoken to many that find this show distasteful and, okay I will say it, racist. But you will find just as many viewers (even more in fact) that love it.

Orange Is the New Black revolves around Piper Chapman (Schilling), a woman from Connecticut, living in New York City, who is sent to the women's federal prison in Litchfield, NY, for 15 months after being convicted of transporting a suitcase full of drug money for Alex Vause (Prepon), an international drug smuggler and Chapman's former lover.

Here's A Review

I got interested in reading Orange is the New Black after reading an excerpt in the New York Times, and reading an article from Piper's fiance Larry in the Times as well. I just finished it, and I found it really interesting - the details she provides on life in prison, the rituals, the jobs, the treatment of prisoners, is really fascinating and a view on a minimum security prison I'd never seen before. But I was often frustrated with Kerman's lack of details - I had no sense of how it was that she was free to just go do yoga or run around the track whenever she wanted, or what kind of hours she worked at her electric and construction jobs.
