Follow on Google News | Chevrolet Compact Car Sales on the RiseWhen you think of compact cars, you think of Europeans and their tiny cars. America has always been the land of "Bigger is Better". Muscle cars, Trucks, SUV's, Vans, and Sedans make up the primary vehicle market in the US. It's all about to change..
By: Hank Graff Chevrolet: Davison The fact of the matter is, compact car sales for Chevrolet are up 229% from the second quarter of 2010, through the second quarter of 2013. That's a huge number considering most of Chevrolet's line of vehicles are mid-sized and bigger; yet Chevy continues to release smaller and smaller cars. They first introduced The Cruze in 2008, and have since been one of Chevy's top selling automobiles. The Chevrolet Sonic--previously named the Aveo--is a second generation vehicle introduced in 2011; backed by the “Let’s Do This” campaign, which propelled the Sonic to the forefront with young buyers. The Chevy Spark is the third, and final--up to this point--vehicle in the line-up. It's their smallest vehicle yet; with a 0.8L I-3 cyl and 1.0L I-4 cyl engine, it's gas smarter than the well-known Smart Car. It's going to be hard to turn the mentality of the American consumer. The Europeans have already embraced the compact car lifestyle, and we as Americans think it's a bit queer--and I mean odd in saying that, and well, it is. We're American's, "Go Big or Go Home" is our view on things, and that's how the rest of the world sees us. Millennials, on the other hand, are thinking different; and that's what people need to realize. If you want to stay on top in the Automotive business, you need to appeal to what your future buyers are wanting, and it appears as though they're wanting the vehicles that cost less and go further than the average vehicle. Some think they may need to give up comfort and safety, to save more green in their wallet. However, this is clearly not the case; the compact vehicles are extremely safe--unless, of course, you're going head on with a semi, but any car is unsafe in that instance. HankGraffDavison.com It's a fact that compact cars are on the rise, and with the new generation being more open-minded, it's not that big of a surprise. Me personally, I'm not sold on them, however this doesn't mean that I don't like what they have to offer; it just means I like my cars mid-sized and roomy. Times are changing, and while there will always be mid-sized vehicles on the road, there will be a time in the future when compact cars are common place in America. End
