The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to host its 2013 Light The Night Walk Kickoff Celebration

SAN DIEGO - Aug. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Participants of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2013 Light The Night^® Walk (http://www.lightthenight.org/sd/) will rally their forces for the fall campaign with a kickoff party at the La Jolla Marriott on September 5. 

 

The complimentary lunch will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will include fun activities to get participants excited about the Walk, speeches by honored heroes and each attendee will receive a ticket to the Padres game on September 7.    

 

Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, teams of families, friends, co-workers and local and national corporations come together to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS's) Light The Night^® Walk events and bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers. Millions of consumers also assist by making donations at retail outlets.   Light The Night Walk events are evenings filled with inspiration. During this leisurely walk, participants carry illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer - thousands of walkers - men, women and children - form a community of caring, bringing light to the dark world of cancer.

“We’re excited for the annual kickoff party as we aim to raise $750,000 at this year’s Walk. It’s a lofty goal, but we’re confident that with all the great teams and fundraising efforts taking place, we’ll be able to reach it,” said Joanna Winsborough, Senior Campaign Manager for the Light The Night Walk in San Diego. “The lunch is a great opportunity for people to learn more and get involved. We’re expecting a big turn out and look forward to seeing everyone there.”
