LONDON - Aug. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- LONDON, 22nd August 2013 -- In 2010, a group of ultra-successful Silicon Valley business people from Canada discovered a mutual desire to support the next generation of Canadian entrepreneurs and help build the next billion-dollar Canadian Tech Company. The C100 was born.

The C100 is a non-profit, member-driven organisation that supports Canadian technology entrepreneurship through mentorship, partnership and investment. In just the past three years the group has helped to secure in excess of $560M in funding for some of the world’s most exciting tech startups through a series of events and mentoring programs. The C100 has worked with highly successful companies such as Kiip, Layer7, Kik, HootSuite in addition to many others.

Its hugely successful 48 Hours in the Valley event has become the stuff of industry legend, and on 25th September 2013 the C100 UK is launching its first ever 48 Hours in London. The event will bring together the cream of the UK’s tech and VC sectors with the next generation of technology startups from Canada. Selected speakers include: Sherry Coutu, serial entrepreneur and Angel Investor, Leonard Brody, entrepreneur, Venture Capitalist, author and media visionary, Shelley Kuipers, Founder / CEO of Chaordix, and Darin Brown, President, Europe at Crispin Porter & Bogusky.

“We expect this event to be the first of many we plan to organise in the coming years here in the UK, building on the success of the C100 in the Silicon Valley. The UK is the launch pad for many international companies coming to Europe for the first time and London is one of the top startup hubs in Europe,” said Paul Heydon, co-founder of C100 UK, along with Sacha Mann. “We hope that Canadian companies participating in 48 Hours in London will gain new contacts and expertise to help them expand into Europe. We have a great Canadian expat community in the UK to tap into that wants to share their network and create new opportunities.”

With strong support from UKTI, BDC, White Star Capital,MDC Partners and the High Commission of Canada, the event looks set to be one of the highlights of the tech calendar in London in 2013. The event is open to Venture Capitalists, Angel Investors, Senior Executives and Journalists in the Tech Sector.
