Freeburg Riding Center Continues to Save Horses in the Saint Louis Area

FREEBURG, Ill. - Aug. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- When it comes to equine, The Riding Center is an odds-on favorite. Located in Freeburg, Illinois, owners Rodger and Casey Davis have established a family-friendly training center and getaway that has left horses and horse-lovers alike smiling for over fifty years.

One service TRC offers is extensive training for horses, including Riding With Excellence (RWE). This six-month equine course develops athleticism through a variety of agility and exercise programs led by TRC’s highly trained instructors.

Sarah Sanders, one of the center’s primary trainers, relishes her time with the horses she trains and fondly remembers training a stallion named Turk beginning late 2012.

The TRC adopted Turk in November 2012 from Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in Union, Missouri after his owner could no longer tend to him. Sarah and a team of assistants began to work with him as he showed raw potential.

Sarah used the groundwork that Turk was familiar with to slowly transition him into riding. He was exposed to these training experiences at the Freeburg Riding Center, which included trail riding, trailering, and field trips away from his new home. Jumping, reining and dressage moves, and the basic handle warm-up technique were also incorporated into his training. Sarah and her assistants would expose Turk to these new experiences daily, and with each day he excelled in his training. As Turk got further along in the RWE program, Sarah knew it was time to find his forever home.

Stephanie heard about RWE through Longmeadow, andstarted taking lessons with Sarah as a novice rider in May of 2013.  She began on school horses at The Riding Center and progressed very quickly in her riding ability. Though Stephanie had never seriously considered horse ownership, her interest was piqued when she heard about a horse that had been adopted from Longmeadow, trained by RWE, and was in need of a forever home.

After taking a few lessons on Turk, she knew he was the one for her. Within a couple of weeks, the adoption was complete. RWE had trained Turk to be a safe riding horse, and thanks to the Freeburg Riding Center, their riding possibilities are now endless.
