The Visual Effects Company Are Superheroes For Sky

LONDON - Aug. 22, 2013 - PRLog --  The Visual Effects Company’s Creative Studio were engaged by Sky Movie’s Creative Director Scott Russell and Design Director Ted Thorpe to create the ident.  The Visual Effects Company’s Head of 3D, Rebekah King-Britton and the team collaborated with Russell and Thorpe along with storyboard artist Ashwin Kumar on the creative development of the idea. 

The brief was to play on the stylistic conventions of the genre and to reference iconic characters. This led to a stylised graphic novel layout where key moments are revealed as we track across consecutive comic book frames using Sky’s trademark linear move. 

Concept art was used as a basis for the scenes. By stripping it apart into multi-planar layers and extending the artwork to create clean backgrounds and allow for parallax, camera moves and action.

The scenes were then assembled in Maya to create 3D environments with a nudge towards stereoscopic effects.  Each scene was composited in Nuke and enhanced with light effects, graphic rain and debris to add depth, atmospherics, depth of field and lens flare.
