BEAVERTON, Ore. - Aug. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- It would appear that 52% of smartphones are running the Android operating system. Samsung is currently the largest manufacturer of smartphones running Android. Apple, with the help of it’s new release of the iPhone 5 has managed to achieve 40% and is the only smartphone producer that runs on iOS. Windows still struggles to gain market share with a small 1.2% via cell phone manufacturer Nokia. Given the troubles RIM has had over the years with steady loss of subscribers, RIM still has about a 3% share of the mobile OS market with it’s Blackberry OS. The Android OS also continues to be the most popular OS with ting.com (https://vtimrd8.ting.com/):

Nielsen reports that 40% of smartphone subscribers use an Apple iPhone. Soon, ting.com (https://vtimrd8.ting.com/) should be accepting BYOD’s that includes the popular iPhone. Windows OS smartphones continue to slowly gain market share. As no contract smartphones become more and more popular, the market will become more competitive in this particular field of telecomunications. This can only be a good thing for the consumer.
