Follow on Google News | Community Housing Innovations, Inc. Announces Financial Fitness Workshop to be Held on September 17By: Community Housing Innovations, Inc. The workshop will focus on strategies that can be taken to avoid facing foreclosure. Topics include budgeting, credit and mortgage modifications. HAC will have a Foreclosure Prevention Counselor on hand to review these topics and discuss how working with a housing counselor can help. Bilingual counselors from CHI will also be in attendance to assist Spanish-speaking participants. According to the most recent data from CoreLogic, during the month of June, 4.8% of all mortgaged homes were in foreclosure in New York — the third-highest rate in the nation — and 3,866 homes were foreclosed upon. Further, 7.9% of all borrowers in New York State were seriously delinquent (more than 90 days past due). In the New York-White Plains-Wayne, New Jersey area, foreclosure inventory was at 5.1% with 1,152 properties in foreclosure and 8.2% of the region’s mortgage holders seriously delinquent, CoreLogic reported. “We encourage those who have fallen behind on their mortgage — or fear that they will — to attend this informative workshop,” says Alexander Roberts, Executive Director, CHI. “The program will provide vital information to help attendees save their homes.” Both CHI and HAC are housing counseling agencies that are approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. To register, please call HAC at (914) 332-4144. For more information on CHI, visit http://www.chigrants.org. End
