Coming back from a sales decline caused by stock shortages in the aftermath of the fatal earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan in March 2011, Toyota picked up the pace to reclaim its top-seller title in 2012. Despite strong competition from GM this year, the well-populated lineup of Toyota models has guaranteed sales in every segment, with sedans and hybrids leading the most recent surge. The Toyota Corolla is getting a complete redesign for the 2014 model year in an effort to boost sales even further.
"Toyota is keeping all its plates spinning, and the result is an increased choice of Prius models to fit different drivers' needs," said Pat Ferris, owner of Ferris Toyota, a Toyota dealership in Ohio. "In addition, the new 2014 Toyota Corolla will be the most exciting to date, with an exterior design that will set it apart from other vanilla sedans."
After selling more than 39 million units of the Corolla, Toyota is betting on spicing up the new version instead of playing it safe. Completely redesigned for the 2014 model year, the all-new Toyota Corolla is poised to attract additional buyers thanks to its more youthful look and better performance. In a departure from its traditional look, more aggressive lines and sporty styling are guaranteed to make an instant impression. Adding to its appeal with a more efficient engine option in the LE Eco model, the Corolla could return up to 40 mpg on the highway while still posting a slight increase in horsepower.
