What's coming up at York's Chocolate Story this September?

 
YORK, U.K. - Aug. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- York Food and Drink Festival, 20th – 29th September

York’s CHOCOLATE Story will be hosting a series of events throughout York’s Food and Drink Festival, celebrating the city’s most famous culinary export – chocolate.

 

Throughout the week visitors to York’s CHOCOLATE Story will be able to see Head Chocolatier Andrew Thwaite and his team giving daily demonstrations on artisan chocolate-making, as well as creating a spectacular chocolate sculpture celebrating the city.

 

Events which York’s CHOCOLATE Story will be taking part in as part of the festival programme include:

 

Artisan chocolate-making demonstration, Saturday 21st September, 4pm

In the Festival’s Demonstration Area in St Sampson’s Square, York CHOCOLATE Story’s Head Chocolatier Andrew Thwaite will be giving an artisan chocolate-making demonstration. See how fine chocolates are made by hand and how innovative flavour combinations combine. 

 

Unwrapping York’s chocolate brands, Wednesday 25th September, 6.30pm

In a very special event, Nestle Archivist Alex Hutchinson will be talking through the history of some of the UK’s best-loved confectionery brands, many of which were originally created by Rowntree’s in York. Alex will be accompanied by Nestle’s top confectioners, who will be demonstrating how the products are made, how brands established themselves over the years and talking through the fascinating details of their development in the city. 

 

The event will provide a unique chance to learn how some of the world’s most loved chocolate brands were created, first hand from the experts.

Sustainability and chocolate workshop, Saturday 28th September, 3.30pm

In the Festival’s Workshop Area in St Sampson’s Square, York CHOCOLATE Story’s Head Chocolatier Andrew Thwaite will be giving a talk on the sustainability of chocolate, with the opportunity to taste a range of chocolates from around the world.

 

Choctail Masterclass, Friday 27th September, 7pm

York’s CHOCOLATE Story’s team of skilled Chocolatiers and Mixologists will be hosting an evening masterclass and tasting session for cocktail connoisseurs. In a fun-filled and interactive evening, you will be able to learn how to make mouth-watering chocolate cocktails from the experts and then get hands on invent your own chocolate cocktail.

Chocolate lolly-making, Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September, 11am – 3pm

The York’s CHOCOLATE Story team will be running drop in children’s chocolate lolly-making workshops in the Festival’s workshop area in St Sampson’s Square. Come along, get hands-on and have a go at making and decorating your own chocolate lolly!
