Senior Community Residents Travel “Around the World in 60 Days”

HAYWARD - Casa Sandoval, a senior living community in Hayward, California, goes to great lengths to live up to its reputation as “The Cruise Ship that Never Leaves Hayward”.

During the months of August and September, Casa residents and their families will experience the thrill of seeing scale models of the Golden GateBridge, Leaning Tower of Pisa, the EiffelTower, and many more world landmarks, hand-built by Casa staff members.

Throughout the last few years, Casa Sandoval has provided world-class singers and dancers to entertain its residents. From a long-winded Australian didgeridoo musician to energetic African dancers to passionate Mexican mariachis, Casa residents have enjoyed a variety of acts that celebrate cultures around the world.

To support each themed performance, the Casa Sandoval staff has constructed, from scratch, a working Victoria Falls, the Giant Vienna Ferris Wheel, the Parthenon, and the WinterPalace in St. Petersburg, Russia. Other creations include Big Ben, the Sydney Opera House, a Japanese Gate, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell.

Photos of our residents enjoying the festivities line the walls, bringing back fun memories of happy celebrations. Executive Chef Claude Troska adds to the flavor of the event by preparing Thursday night themed dinners that represent a variety of countries.

The special exhibits will be displayed throughout the halls of Casa Sandoval until the end of September when the festivities culminate with an International Fashion Show, featuring residents wearing colorful and traditional clothing from around the world. Until then, residents will continue their world tour, taking turns to pose for pictures in front of their favorite historical landmarks.
