CPR and First Aid Classes Offered at Miller YMCA

The Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park is offering one-day adult and pediatric CPR/First Aid classes. The classes are available August 30, September 27, October 25 and November 22. Class hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

NEWBURY PARK, Calif. - Aug. 19, 2013 - PRLog -- Newbury Park, Calif.—The Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park is offering one-day adult and pediatric CPR/First Aid classes. The classes are available August 30, September 27, October 25 and November 22. Class hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

            “The class incorporates the latest science and teaches class members to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck and back injuries and head and cold emergencies,” says Kara Hensley, the Miller Y's healthy living and aquatics director. “Students will also learn how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants, children and adults and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).” 

            Students who successfully complete the seven-hour course will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED that is valid for two years. Students must be 12 years old or older to participate.

            Classes take place at the Miller Y (320 Via Las Brisas, Newbury Park). Fees are $35 for Miller YMCA members and $55 for community members. To register, contact the Miller Y at 805-480-0309.
