In Panchayat Yuva Krida Aur Khel Abhiyan – PYKKA State Rural Competition 2012-2013, held during 26-29 Nov 2012 at SMS Stadium Jaipur he came First in Discus Throw and Shotput. In the 56th State School Level Sports Competition for Senior Secondary Schools held at Nohar Govt Senior Secondary School 10-15 Oct 2011, he came First in Discus Throw. In the PYKKA District Rural Competition organized by State Sports Department Jhunjhunu 9 Nov 2012 he came First in Discus Throw and ShotPut.
In the Secondary & Senior Secondary Level District Sports Meet at Jhunjhunu 30 Sep - 3 Oct 2012, Vanam came First in ShotPut and Discus Throw. In the Jhunjhunu District Amateur Athletic Association15th District Athletic Meet at Pilani held during 16-17 Sep 2012, he bagged First position in Discus Throw. In the Primary & Middle Level District Sports Meet Jhunjhunu held during 02-05 Oct 2011, Vanam came First in Discus Throw and ShotPut.
Vanam has also Participated in School Games Federation of India – SGFI 58th National School Games 2012-2013 Etawah (U.P.) held during 29 Jan to 02 Feb 2013 apart from participation in Govt of India Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports 5th National Level Rural Tournament Group - I Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) held during 27 - 30 Dec, 2012 and Athletics Federation of India 10th National Inter District Sub Junior Athletics Meet at Haridwar held during 03 - 05 Nov 2012
The credit for Vanam's achievement goes to his father Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma who motivated him all through and Coach Shri Surendar Singh Shekhawat who himself is a sportsman of repute and had a distinguished career in Indian Railways. For nurturing the keen to conquer interests of Vanam, Mrs Mamta Gupta sports teacher of JMA also takes credit.
It is indeed a matter of pride that Vanam who came as a student to JMA in 2004, excels not only in sports but other extracurricular activities also. In the Itihas Parishad All India Hindi debate competition held at Birla School Pilani on 11 September 2010, Vanam along with Himakshi Alaria brought top spot for JMA.
In a glittering function held at Swarn Jayanti Stadium, Jhunjhunu on August 15, 2013 to celebrate the 66th anniversary of India Independence, the collector of Jhunjhunu district Dr Arushi Malik felicitated Vanam Sharma for his sporting feats to a thunderous applause in the presence of Dr Jitendra Singh Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Non Conventional Energy Resources, PHED, GWD, Information & Public Relations, Govt of Rajasthan who had also graced the occasion.
JMA Principal Mrs Booma Natarajan says “summer or winter, it rains or it is foggy, Vanam's day starts at 4am for his workouts and still reaches school on time, evening again at field he slogs from 4 - 6pm and believe it or not his diet is strictly vegetarian and his dream is nothing short of Olympics.”
No one has doubt that Vanam Sharma is indeed a Dreamer and Performer and Destined to be an Achiever in coming times.
