Colon cancer nonprofit offers patient perspective in cancer survivorship article.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Aug. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- Fight Colorecal Cancer’s Kim Ryan, director of patient information services, is one of the co-authors in an upcoming manuscript to be published in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)’s Journal of Clinical Oncology. Ryan offers a patient perspective to the article that provides much-needed insights into the recommended evaluations and intervals for the routine surveillance of colorectal cancer survivors.

“A patient’s shift from treatment to survivorship care is an important transition,” said Ryan. “Knowing there are established guidelines for their follow-up care is paramount. These guidelines will help patients make that transition with confidence."

Ryan is one of ten authors who contributed to the publication American Society of Clinical Oncology Endorsement of the Cancer Care Ontario: Clinical Practice Guideline on Follow-up Care, Surveillance Protocol, and Secondary Prevention Measures for Survivors of Colorectal Cancer.
