BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Aug. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- On 18 October, a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse will take place in the skies above Scotland, primarily in the Glasgow area, and many people are expected to gather and witness the natural phenomenon which occurs when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its umbra (shadow).

This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned exactly, with the Earth in the middle; hence, a lunar eclipse can only occur the night of a full moon.

Alternatively, you could join Chameleon Worldwide on its unique one-off itinerary to Uganda that will combine a rare hybrid solar eclipse on 3 November, followed by a trip to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to trek on foot in search of one of the planet’s rarest creatures, the magnificent Silverback Gorilla.

The one-off trip departs on 31 October and will commence with a night at colonial Entebbe on Lake Victoria with the option of a visit to the Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

The next day, the group will head north to Murchison Falls to spend three days and nights, enjoying the spectacular eclipse, plus game drives to view the area’s abundance of wildlife and a trip to see the impressive waterfalls.

For the eclipse itself, the group will be joined by teachers and children from a local school, to enrich the experience and make it all the more memorable as the youngsters’ faces light up with the sheer wonder of the event (part of the cost of the trip will include a donation to a local school).

From there, the next part of the itinerary is spent at the famous Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, which in addition to being home to half the world’s population of endangered mountain gorillas - including the rare Silverback  - also has 120 mammals, 345 species of birds, 200 species of butterflies and 160 species of trees (plus other primates including cheeky chimpanzees!).

The trip ends with a flight back to Entebbe and onwards to the UK but there is the option of a tailor-made extension to other regions of Uganda including Queen Elizabeth National Park on Lake Victoria, or further afield to Zanzibar for some R&R on the beach.

The holiday departs on 31 October and costs from £4179 pp (two sharing).  This includes international and domestic flights, all land transportation, 6-nights’ accommodation, most meals, activities as detailed in the itinerary and a guide.

Note that permits for gorilla tracking are severely restricted and consequently in short supply; early booking is recommended.
