By: Sclc Southern California Open to the public, MLK: A Tribute in Song illustrates Dr. King’s key milestones through songs of various genres with a multimedia presentation. MLK: A Tribute in Song is part of a seven day collective recognition of the March’s 50th Anniversary by SCLC with the Los Angeles NAACP, the Urban League of LA, The Black Community, Clergy & Labor Alliance (BCCLA), LA County Federation of Labor, New Frontier Democratic Club and other community, faith-based & labor organizations. Originally directed by award-winning and legendary filmmaker, Charles Burnett, MLK: A Tribute in Song is written by writer-producer, J.M. Morris -- a former King Center National Scholar and intern for Mrs. King. Morris is producing the event along with John E. Sampson III, who also continues the directing template created by Burnett. Co-producing is Val Peacock, and the Associate Producer is Lena Cole-Dennis. MLK: A Tribute in Song is being held in the 107 year old, historic New Hope Baptist Church at5200 S. Central Ave., LA, CA on Sunday, August 25th at 3:30 pm. Free parking is available at the church and surrounding area.
