TUSCANY CHIANTI, Italy - Aug. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- Bob Trotta,a most unassuming man, gentle in stature and manner, is a legend in the hotel and resort business, a reputation earned by the creation of world class hotels in Europe and the Caribbean. His take on the Wall Street Journal report is not unusual given the heating trend being observed in the global real estate market.

According to WSJ reporter Saabira Chaudhuri, "Hyatt Hotels Corp. H -1.27% said it is taking a stake in Playa Hotels & Resorts BV with a $325 million investment, marking its entry into the all-inclusive resort market. Hyatt will spend $100 million for a 20% ownership stake and $225 million for convertible preferred stock in Playa, a privately held hotel-investment company."

A spokesperson responding to questions regarding Trotta's views on the purchase states, "He sees the Hyatt move as would be expected from the eyes of a mover and shaker in the hotel and resort business. He maintains that had it not been for his exposure to building property, and the exacting standards that the family business demanded he would probably have been eking out a living as a teacher or lecturer of history."

In regard to the real story behind the Hyatt gambit reporter Chaudhuri writes, "Playa's hotel portfolio will include 13 resorts totaling about 5,800 rooms across the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Jamaica. Playa will sign franchise agreements with Hyatt for six of the 13 resorts, which will operate under Hyatt brands after renovations are completed. Under the agreement with Hyatt, Playa will have certain rights to operate Hyatt-branded all-inclusive resorts in five Latin American and Caribbean countries on an exclusive basis through 2018."
