Follow on Google News | San Jose Personal Trainer Teaches Locals How To Roll Away Muscle PainBecky Williamson, a San Jose personal fitness trainer, will be holding a workshop on Saturday, August 31st in Willow Glen to teach participants how to properly use a foam roller to decrease muscle pain and tightness.
By: lifeSport Fitness, LLC “With many people jumping head first into aggressive exercise programs this month to work off holiday pounds, there are going to be a lot of people in San Jose with sore muscles!” says Williamson, a 25-year veteran of the fitness industry. “I want to show people how they can work on improving joint range of motion and decreasing muscle stiffness at home with a simple, inexpensive piece of Styrofoam”. Foam rolling can do wonders for inactive people with stiff joints and arthritic conditions and for athletic people who can’t get to a massage therapist regularly. Williamson contends that a few minutes a day of foam rolling over sore, tight, overused muscles can decrease pain and improve function for non-athletes and athletes alike. The workshop will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 31st at 10 am. The cost of the workshop is $35 if you bring your own foam roller, or $45 for the workshop and a 12” foam roller. All participants will receive a digital 48-page illustrated manual that covers proper foam rolling for all the major muscle groups. Pre-registration is required.
