GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Aug. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Adelphi University Performing Arts Center’s (AUPAC’s) series showcasing opera from around the world allows you to enjoy some of the finest singers without leaving Long Island. The Opera in Cinema series from Emerging Pictures will be shown on the 30-foot Concert Hall screen, located at 1 South Avenue, Garden City, N.Y., in crystal-clear high definition with surround sound. This fall, travel to Milan, Italy to the world’s great opera house, Teatro alla Scala, where performances have been thrilling audiences since 1778. This series also celebrates Giuseppe Verdi’s bicentennial by featuring three of his most popular operas.

In 1839, the first opera by Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901) was performed. He soon became the composer whose name is linked more than any other with the history of La Scala. Year after year, visitors come to La Scala to experience not only the superb performances onstage, but also the exquisite atmosphere of Milan's musical jewel.
