PRLog (Press Release)
- Aug. 13, 2013 - CHICAGO -- Chicago, IL, August 14, 2013:
Director Jeremy Silva to initiate production of his latest film, EMBRACE. The movie will be filmed in a variety of locations throughout the Chicagoland area including downtown Chicago, the Riverwalk in Naperville, and Emerson Creek in Oswego. In conceiving of the film, Silva’s mission was to create a high quality film that not only speaks to important social issues such as bullying, suicide and the impact on families and communities but also tackles those issues in a raw way. “By design, this film will make people uncomfortable”
states Silva, “and my hope is that it will provide a reality check as they gain a new perspective on their own lives.” Given the shocking increase in bullying and “bullycide”
over the past five years, the film is nothing if not timely.
Much of what is currently being produced in the Midwest is a combination of action and horror films. EMBRACE is unique in that it is a dramatic film with sci-fi elements while maintaining its basis as a character-driven story. As Peter “Sky” Bonham (played by Brenden Carney) struggles with questions about his sexuality and self worth, he considers entering a program that will separate his soul from his body in a painless manner.
As a newcomer to the film production scene, Silva has also focused on making sure the production brings significant opportunity to many including acting “extras” from the communities in which he is filming, leveraging up and coming talent from top Chicago acting schools, as well as signing on several professional SAG talents such as Jay Disney, Ashley Lobo, Shannon Brown, Jim Nieciecki, and Joette Waters, among others. The technical crew comes to the table with strong backgrounds in production and design as well.
After a very successful PHASE I Indiegogo fundraising effort, the team focused on developing the visual elements of EMBRACE. By hand-making unique costumes for the characters and a prop “mastermind”
molding a powerful centerpiece, the production promises to allow the visual components to imbue the story with a sense of realism and authenticity.
