DMDisplay’s Magic Film is an advanced product that can instantaneously switch from a transparent state to an opaque state through the application of electricity. Magic Film features two sheets of film that sandwiches the liquid crystals. By applying electricity to the film, the crystal molecules are rearranged to allow light to pass through the film. By utilizing this feature, Magic Film can be made transparent or opaque through a simple flick of a switch. Magic Film can be custom manufactured to fit any dimensions and shapes so as to be utilized in a variety of applications. The Magic Film features two sheets of conductive film that have been coated with liquid crystals and high polymers using the latest in film production technology. In the off state, the stick-shaped liquid crystal stay aligned along the walls of the capsule that encase them. The light that enters Magic Film is refracted by the capsule surface inside the film. The dispersion of the light that enters the film creates an opaque view. However, when the power is turned on, the liquid crystal molecules align themselves parallel to the direction of the applied electricity. Careful engineering ensures that the molecules will align themselves perpendicular to the electrical leads and light will be allowed to pass without any refraction. In other words, the film will become totally transparent.

DMDisplay’s Magic SF (self-adhesive film) is similar to the Magic Film except that one side of Magic SF has been especially treated with a unique adhesive so that it can be applied to normal glass surfaces and have the same functionalities as DMD Magic Glass (switchable glass). Magic SF is most commonly used for visual display purposes. Putting an image on the back of Magic SF is an incredibly effective way of advertising, promoting and grabbing attention.
