In “Year 17” a young female Chinese student experiences opposing teaching methods ranging from the loving approach of her Grandmother to her embarrassment from the violent and cold approach from a school teacher. In the story the author reveals the lesson the student was learning through the experiences.

Originally from Masterton, a small faming town. Murray Kibblewhite moved to Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, to complete his B.Com. from Victoria University, before shifting to Auckland where he has lived for the last forty years.
