Follow on Google News | 7TH Annual African Day Parade and Festival: Our Communities. Our Progress. Our Unity.The African community in New York City host the 2013 African day Parade and Festival Celebrating, African Communities, Africa’s Progress and African Unity
By: African Day Parade and Festival The Parade will start at 12 Noon, from 135th Street to 122nd Street along Malcolm X Boulevard(Lenox Avenue). The Festival will be held in Marcus Garvey Park in East Harlem, from 4PM to 7 PM. At the festival a diverse group of artists from all over Africa will share the stage for a celebration of African music, and African Talent. Nollywood/Ghollywood actress Nadia Buari will host the festival. The parade and festival will host over 50 marching groups, and thousand of participants from Africa, the Americas and other parts of the world. Drummers, dancers, associations, bands, singers, and various other groups will be represented. Many dignitaries including representatives in New York State and City and African Ambassadors will be among honored guests and Marshalls. There will be a Press Conference on September 12, 2013 at 4PM hosted by Senator Bill Perkins. The press conference will be held at the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. State Office Building, 163 West 125th Street- 9th Floor. This will be a great opportunity for media representatives and community members to learn more about the parade. There will be a Media Reception that will be held on September 20, 2013. Members of the media are encouraged to come to this reception in order to get a chance to interview some of the dignitaries, and celebrities that will be attending the parade. The community is also invited to experience African Culture Through Film on September 21, 2013. This will be a great time for families and friends to gather and network with some of the notable producers, actors and directors of African movies. All members of the community are encouraged to come out and join the celebration.
