Mom-preneurs Create Epublishing Guide For On-the-go Writers

Entrepreneur moms wrote their easy-to-use guide book for self-starting writers during their babies' naptimes. It's currently available on Amazon for only $2.99.

CARY, N.C. - Aug. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- It's common knowledge that J.K. Rowling completed the first Harry Potter novel while working and raising her young daughter, but two writing moms from North Carolina also know the value of stolen moments. Lisa M. Logan and Louisa J. Dang released their latest ebook Publishing and Selling Your Ebook on Kindle on August 1. And both have new babies.

“When you have children, you really have to write quickly,” said Logan, whose son is just 7 months old. Dang has a 9-month old son and a four-year-old daughter. The stay-at-home moms created their book during naptimes and in the evenings, after their children were asleep, taking turns to research and write chapters. Because they know the value of time, the moms wanted to create a straightforward, easy-to-read guide that gives busy authors everything they need to know to publish successfully on Amazon.

“Many of the how-to books we’d read had so much filler,” Dang said. “We don’t have time to read all that, and neither do most writers!” Their guide covers essential topics like picking book covers, formatting your ebook for Kindle, and marketing tips for power-launching your ebook. There’s also a “Resources” section in the back, with further reading and links to press release distribution sites.

Logan and Dang first published their short story collections on www.smashwords.com two years ago before trying Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform. Logan, who has SEO (Search Engine Optimization) marketing experience, picked out a cover and tested out many of the ads using her Kindle novel House of Mirrors as a guinea pig. Dang, who used to work as a technical writer, did much of the layout and editing. They aren’t shy about sharing their mistakes, such as terrible cover choices. “We researched and gathered information for over a year before putting the guide together,” Logan said. “Other writers can learn from our blunders!”

Both have Master’s degrees in creative writing from North Carolina State University – that’s where the two friends first met – and have written for publications including Our State magazine and the North Carolina Literary Review. Logan’s paranormal thriller House of Mirrors and Dang’s second collection of short stories Up Pops the Devil are currently in the Kindle Store.
