FREMONT, Calif. - Aug. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- FREMONT, Calif. – August 13, 2013HERS Breast Cancer Foundation (http://hersbreastcancerfoundation.org/) (HBCF), a professional accredited organization that supports breast cancer survivors, is proud to announce virtual participation for the 14th Annual KEEP ABREAST 5k Walk, 5k/10k Run and Community Expo (http://herskeepabreast.org/). Those interested in the event but cannot physically be there on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Quarry Lakes East Bay Regional Park in Fremont, California, are invited to partake virtually. We welcome walkers and runners from any location to complete the walk/run on their own time, as long as it’s completed by the deadline.

This is the first time HBCF has gone virtual with its annual KEEP ABREAST event. Participants simply select 5K, 10K, or Half Marathon and hit the local trail, street or treadmill of their choice. Registration is available now and closes on September 21st at 12:00 a.m. PT. The price to participate in this inspirational event is $25.00 and all participants will receive a commemorative medal.

“We are extremely excited to be in our 14th year of the KEEP ABREAST Walk/Run and are thrilled to offer participation from any location with our virtual walk/run,” said Karen Jackson, Development Director at HERS Breast Cancer Foundation. “For years we have had interest from people who couldn’t physically be at the event, so enabling them to participate virtually is a huge bonus for everyone.”

This community fundraising event is the organization’s largest event of the year. It celebrates life, the lives of people that have survived breast cancer, and honors those lost. This event brings survivors, friends, family and neighbors together to celebrate life and people who are truly making a difference.

Virtual participants are requested to complete their walk or run by September 30th, and are then asked to post results and any pictures on the HBCF Virtual Run Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/HersKeepAbreastVirtualRun).Those interested in participating, sponsoring, registering and/or donating to HERS Breast Cancer Foundation can do so online at the KEEP ABREAST (http://herskeepabreast.org/event-information/virtual-run/) website. All proceeds from the event will be used towards the services of HBCF: helping women survive the battle with breast cancer while serving any women regardless of their financial status. If event participation is not an option, donations (http://hersbreastcancerfoundation.org/keep-abreast-walk/) are greatly appreciated.
