Wichita Mentalist To Drive Blindfolded Hot Rod During Blacktop Nationals

WICHITA, Kan. - Aug. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- Wichita, KS August 12, 2013:   

He has been seen around town at countless corporate events, private parties, restaurants, and fundraisers performing his astonishing and often humorous feats of mental magic; he’s professional magician and mentalist Curtis Waltermire. On Saturday, August 24^th, 2013, at approximately 1:00 p.m. he is going to attempt something that has never been done during Blacktop Nationals, and something that few magicians or mentalists have ever done—driving a “Blindfolded Car” to complete the Auto-Cross Course at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. 

“One man referred to it as the modern-day version of the ‘Headless Horseman,” Curtis says.  What makes the Blindfolded Car stunt so rare is that not only will Curtis be wearing two blindfolds that have been examined by audience members, but the car’s windshield will be completely covered with newspaper, making forward vision absolutely impossible. There will also be someone riding in the passenger seat as well as a video camera mounted inside of the car recording everything within.  No electronic devices such as remote controls, GPS, or small audio/video components will be used to assist Curtis in any way.

 “I’m going to demonstrate my ability to perform what is known as ‘remote viewing’: that is the ability to see objects through the eyes of someone else,” he says.  The car being used belongs to a local Wichitan who will be announced during the event.  The man will be posted facing the track high atop a lift or platform and will be concentrating on nothing but the route of the course.  “I will ‘hack’ into his brain, if-you-will, with my brain and create a ‘live streaming vision” and will attempt to complete the course with him guiding me mentally,” says the Wichita Mentalist.  “It’s going to take a tremendous amount of concentration from both of us.”    

 

Curtis performed the same stunt last year as part of a Wichita news story where he drove a Blindfolded Car through a grocery store parking lot around some spectators who were also blindfolded.  The August 24^th stunt will be much more complex and done at a higher rate of speed and is featured as a part of one of the nation’s largest car shows, the Blacktop Nationals.
