NR Road Racing will hold a Glow in the Night 5k on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 8:15 pm to help support the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. The event will be held at Lakeshore Greenway, 6414 S Northshore Dr, Knoxville, TN 37919; part of the proceeds will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee.
During the event, participants will run, walk and play across the course and enjoy the glow dust along the way. In addition to the run, there will be an after party with more color and music! The goal will be to see how much a person can really be covered in color as every 10 minutes more color will be thrown into the air. NR Road Racing invites everyone and their family and friends to come out and have a glowing good night while supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee. All ages are welcome, although you must register anyone over six.
Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee works to make sure no one goes hungry. One in six east Tennesseans will go hungry tonight. In the community a staggering 200,000 people are at risk of hunger. The “working poor” make up the largest portion of the people that receive food from Second Harvest. Often working poor families struggle week-to-week to support their families and put food on the table. The “working poor” are employed, but most do not receive benefits or earn high wages from their work. The majority report having to choose between buying food or paying bills like rent, health-care expenses or credit card debt.
“Glow in the Night 5k is a great opportunity for runners or walkers of all levels, their families and friends to enjoy a fun glowing night out sponsored by NR Road Racing that will support the Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee” said Heather Newman, Marketing Director for NR Road Racing.
