Passion for Fishing Crosses All Cultures at Kawartha Cottage Resort

LINDSAY, Ontario - Aug. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- LINDSAY, ON – When new owners took over the management of Lunge Haven Cottages and Boating Club on Sturgeon Lake this spring, the Kawartha property stayed true to its origins as a fishing destination for anglers eager to catch plenty of muskie, bass and walleye. But increasingly, the housekeeping cottage resort attracts fishing and outdoor enthusiasts from a variety of cultures.

“Fishing is an activity that crosses over cultural differences,” says William Lu, director of operations for Lunge Haven and an avid fisherman.  Guests at the resort come from a number of backgrounds, including Chinese, Italian, French and German heritages, and frequently share their catch. “They bring different fishing styles and fish recipes with them, but all agree that a few days on the water with a rod and line is a great way to relax and enjoy Ontario’s outdoors,” says Lu. Many guests return year after year, often booking their preferred weeks a year in advance. Lunge Haven is also a favourite spot of the Chinese Anglers’ Club, which holds several fishing competitions at the resort every year.

With more than 80 years of history on Snug Harbour Road, Lunge Haven consists of nine one-, two- and three-bedroom cottages near the lake, nine docks, rental boats (pontoons, rowboats, canoes and paddleboats), a gas bar, convenience store, fishermen’s lounge and communal fire pit. The resort is an 80-minute drive from the centre of the Greater Toronto Area.
