PRLog - Aug. 9, 2013 - LOS ANGELESE, Calif. -- Los Angeles, Calif. – August 9, 2013 – Former Star Trek and Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars Armin Shimerman and Harry Groener have joined the cast of the indie end of civilization road comedy Diani & Devine Meet The Apocalypse.

Written by and starring Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine, the project is an apocalyptic comedy in the spirit of the old Bob Hope and Bing Crosby “Road” movies about two struggling comedians who discover that surviving the apocalypse is almost as difficult as surviving in Hollywood.

Shimerman and Groener will appear along with their real life wives, Kitty Swink (Star Trek, Nikki and Nora) and Dawn Didawick (Hart of Dixie, Erin Brockovich), as members of a mysterious elite country club that provide shelter to the wandering comedy duo.

“We are delighted to have Armin, Kitty, Harry, and Dawn on board,” Diani said, “I can’t think of four better people to spend the Apocalypse with.”

Shimerman played the recurring character of “Principal Snyder” on Buffy during the same period he was a series regular as the Ferengi bartender “Quark” on Star Trek: Deep Space 9. Groener guest starred on several different Star Trek series, most notably as the tortured telepath “Tam Elbrun,” and was a series regular “Ralph Drang” on the sitcom Dear John but is widely recognized as the evil “Mayor Wilkins” on the third season of Buffy.

Production is expected to begin in the Fall.

Gabriel Diani and Etta Devine are award-winning actors, writers, and comedians who are often compared with classic comedy teams like Nichols and May and Burns and Allen. They have performed at comedy festivals all over the country, raised over $30,000 on Kickstarter to replace the “N-word” with “Robot” in Mark Twain’s “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dianidevine/replacing...) and garnered over 1.3 million hits on their web series Mary Olson. Gabe wrote, produced, and starred in the horror comedy feature film THE SELLING (http://www.thesellingthemovie.com/) which played at over 30 film festivals, was in the Top 10 of About.com’s Best Horror Movies of 2012 (http://horror.about.com/od/horrortoppicklists/tp/Best-Hor...), and received rave reviews from The Huffington Post, Ain’t It Cool News (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/51520#2), and FilmThreat (http://www.filmthreat.com/reviews/54032/). Co-produced by and co-starring Etta, the film is available on DVD/VOD and just had its television premiere on Fearnet in April.
