Follow on Google News | This Year’s Boo Bash Goes ElectronicGenesis Therapy Center will be holding an event to promote the health and well being of children who have been neglected and abused with a fundraiser named "Boo Bash"
By: Genesis Therapy Center http://www.genesistherapy.org/ This year, Genesis Therapy Center, a non-profit organization that provides counseling and consultation services to families and organizations, is holding its tenth annual KidPower Benefit on Saturday, October 19 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gaelic Park for $30 per person and $5 for children under 18. After the success of last year’s “Boo Bash”, Genesis will be continuing with the fun theme, but with the addition of a few surprises. The Boo Bash will consist of a silent auction, raffle, buffet dinner, trivia contest and music by DJ Steve Mac to raise money for their Children’s Services department, which helps mistreated and neglected children in the Chicagoland area. This year they have added the luxury of electronic bidding, which allows guests to bid from their smart phones or devices that will be provided to them at the event. Cathy Fairfield, executive director of Genesis, said the electronic bidding will enable all guests to have instant information regarding the status of their bids, be able to set automatic caps to their bids, and have heavily bid items displayed on an electronic screen. “We anticipate this will add excitement and hopefully heavier bidding on much desired items,” she said. Approximately 250 people attended the event last year. “That was a new high for us and the event went very smoothly,” she said. She hopes it to be even better this year. According to genesistherapy.org, close to 100,000 children are victims of child abuse in Illinois, 35,000 of those cases coming from Chicago alone. http://www.genesistherapy.org/ Children’s Services also focuses on children dealing with grief and loss of a loved one, divorce, blended family issues, learning disabilities, school related issues, and more. Genesis is the only center of its kind serving Chicago’s southern suburbs with a comprehensive array of assistance programs. Genesis believes that no child should be denied the opportunity to heal, grow and thrive. Part of their mission is to provide a wide range of financial resources so all can receive high quality therapy. A raffle will be held at the end of the night with a chance to win a week’s vacation in a 2-bedroom condo in Windham Galena, along with four other great prizes. Participants in the trivia contest will be eligible for additional prizes. Tickets can be purchased and monetary donations can be made by contacting their office at 708-535-7320.
