Marina del Rey to host Lido 14 Championships

Del Rey Yacht Club, South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club and Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club team up to host the 2013 Lido14 Class, Women's and Junior Championships on Santa Monica Bay, August 12-17.

The Lido 14 was introduced in 1957 as a family friendly day sailor.  It took virtually no time at all for folks to start racing them and the first Class Championship was held in 1958 less than a year from the start of production.

This year features the 56th running of the Class Championship comes to Marina del Rey and the week of racing also includes Championships for Women and Junior teams.  Teams from Washington state to San Diego will compete in the three regattas being hosted by Del Rey Yacht Club (www.dryc.org ), South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club (www.sccyc.org)  and Santa Monica Windjammers Yacht Club (www.smwyc.org ).  Racing will take place on the ocean waters of Santa Monica Bay between the Venice Pier and the Marina del Rey channel.

Racing begins Tuesday with the qualification day of racing in the Class Championship Series which wraps up Thursday.  The Women teams compete Friday and Juniors compete Saturday.
