FINRA Arbitration Names Susan R. Rogers and ProEquities, Inc.

ST. CHARLES, Ill. - Aug. 8, 2013 - PRLog -- The law firms of Vanek, Larson & Kolb LLC and Amato Law Firm, LLC announce that they have filed a FINRA arbitration against Naperville, Illinois attorney Susan Rogers and securities broker-dealer ProEquities, Inc. on behalf of a Lake Zurich, Illinois resident who was sold non-traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) and variable annuities.  The case is FINRA No. 13-01993.  

The Statement of Claim alleges that Susan R. Rogers – a Naperville attorney, former financial advisor, and former partner in the Naperville law firm Rogers & Coyne, LLC – sold unsuitable and risky investments to an elderly woman with limited resources and investment experience.  Further, the Statement of Claim alleges that Rogers failed adequately to disclose the risks associated with the investments at issue, as well as the fact that such investments are illiquid relative to traditional investments such as stocks and bonds. 

Before recommending an investment, a financial advisor has an obligation to disclose the risks involved in the investment, perform the necessary due diligence in order to determine that the investment is suitable for an investor, and ascertain that the investment is suitable for the specific investor to whom the recommendation is being made. 

FINRA Dispute Resolution is an arbitration venue in which most claims by investors against their financial advisors or brokerage firms are required to be heard.  It provides investors with an opportunity to attempt to recoup their losses, and is an alternative to filing such claims in court.
