Sahasra Deepika's 15th Year of Service Celebrated in Bangalore, India

BANGALORE, India - Aug. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Sahasra Deepika International for Education celebrated its 15th anniversary on August 4th, 2013. Over 250 guests gathered on Sahasra Deepika Institute for Education campus for the occasion. The ten students who graduated from 10th standard this year were felicitated by the Chief Guests, former Chief Justice of India, the Honorable M.N. Venkatachaliah; Karnataka High Court Justice Ram Mohan Reddy, and President of the Karnataka Bar Association and ex-MLA Mr. K.N. Subba Reddy. The students were particularly honored to be in the presenceThe program included many memorable and inspirational  moments honoring the achievements of Sahasra Deepika, which was founded by Dr. T.V. Ramakrishna and Vijaya Ramakrishna.

 All of the speakers expressed their admiration for the selfless dedication of the founders in building the organization from the grassroots level. Sahasra Deepika provides an opportunity for needy children to grow into productive citizens of good character who will contribute to society. Currently home to 60 students, Sahasra Deepika provides education at Deeksha High, a school on their campus, from LKG to 10th standard. All ten of their 2013 graduates are in first year PUC and 7 students are in second PUC colleges in the Bangalore area. Sahasra Deepika also conducts an annual Outreach Program to provide English tutoring to 9th standard students in government schools.

The concept for Sahasra Deepika is rooted in Dr. Ramakrishna's humble beginnings. He saw the transformative power of education in his own life, taking him from a poor village to a successful career in the United States. Upon their retirement, he and his wife decided to pay that gift of education forward.
Corporate partners, private donors and volunteers from the United States, India, and other countries have contributed to the success of the organization. With continued support, Sahasra Deepika hopes to touch many more lives in the years ahead. The guests enjoyed performances by the children, whose smiles and enthusiasm touched the hearts of all assembled.
