Los Angeles Emerging Pop-Rock Artist Mike Bauer Releases New Album “Financial Aid, Vol.2”

LOS ANGELES - Aug. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- [Los Angeles, CA]  For guitarist/vocalist Mike Bauer the journey from the writing and recording, to the ultimate release of his debut full-length CD “Financial Aid, Vol. 2.” has been a lifelong ambition.  The songs on his stellar new melodic-pop album are opulent and enduring, and all relate to his personal experiences.  “I've lived every single one of them in some capacity” says Mr. Bauer, “from the excitement of a new relationship in "One Piece at a Time" to the desire to avoid a complacent lifestyle articulated in "The Bystander Effect.”  A variety of themes prevail throughout this beautiful CD.  From love, heartache, repentance, admiration of beauty, and complacency, to time spent with friends, Mike Bauer’s stylistic songs and varied themes have a way of touching each and every individual listener in a different way.

 Born in Landstuhl, Germany, on an American military base and raised in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mike Bauer began singing at an early age and grew up in a musically influenced household.  He is a multi-instrumentalist (trumpet, piano, guitar, and bass) and has been noted for his distinctive voice.  His grandfather was a singer and tap-dancer on the Lawrence Welk Show in the 1950s, his father was a big-band singer, and his sister is a professional cellist.

In 2012, Bauer began recording his debut EP and released Financial Aid, Vol. 1.  The release landed him a gig at the American music festival South by Southwest ("SxSW") in Austin, Texas, where he played at the House of Creative’s.  Additionally, the song "I Bet You" was nominated for a Hollywood Music and Media Award (“HMMA”) in the Adult Contemporary category for Best Song.  In 2013, Bauer was again nominated for an HMMA for "One Piece at a Time” in the Best Male Vocal Performance category.  The song also features violinist Vincent Loh. Most recently, a remix by Metaphase of "New Home Team" was featured at the music festival Coachella.

While working on developing his songwriting and music, Mr. Bauer also earned his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles, California in 2012.  He is currently a member in good standing with the California Bar and is an attorney at the firm La Follette Johnson.  Sharing his time between a successful career as a Los Angeles attorney, and an established singer-songwriter, Mr. Bauer continues to excel at both crafts. 

Some of Mr. Bauer’s musical influences include many of the old time great singers, as well as some of today’s great pop recording artists.  He finds listening to the old standards particularly enjoyable; Sarah Vaughn, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Billy Holiday and of course Frank Sinatra to name a few.  Today’s favorites include Bruno Mars, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, and many others.  When asked what “sounds like” category he felt his music closely resembled, Mr. Bauer replied, “If you put Boyz II Men, Marvin Gaye, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, John Mayer and Jason Mraz into a blender and pressed the button …. There you go.”

“Financial Aid, Vol. 2”, is an obvious example of all the hard work and originality put into this project by Mike Bauer.  Writing and producing the music and arrangements on this record, he is joined on the production end by Daniel “Konscious” Krieger, who also engineered the recording.  In addition to producing and sound engineering all of the tracks on Financial Aid, Mr. Krieger also plays keys, bass and guitar on several of the tracks.  Adding the upbeat-dance mixes to the production of two songs is DJ/Producer/Drummer Frankie “Metaphase” Bernstein.  His original music is heard across the globe, igniting dance floors with imaginative and innovative multi-genre compositions.  Metaphase has had recent releases reach the Top 10 on Beatport Dubstep Top 100 charts, and has shared billing with many other top Bass music artists.
